Bio/Background: Rei Aiko's family was killed shortly after she was born during the previous devastating war. It had happened when the enemy shogun of Kyoto had attacked the city. The enemies deciding to pillage through the city of Kyoto and the surrounding villages had gone to burn down the Aiko house and temple to diminish the local people's faith. Rei and her grandfather having survived that tragedy, he is now her only family left in the world. He rebuilt the shrine and temple into a grand estate and raised Rei as a shrine maiden. Due to the rarity, many believed that the existence of mikos that possessed supernatural abilities were mere myths told by the elderly, but it had turned out that Rei had shown signs of having those abilities from the moment she could walk. Rei's grandfather trained her in the ways of the ancient priests and priestesses while making her keep her extra skills a secret in order to protect her. |

Ojichan, Aiko
He is Rei's grandfather and owner of the Aiko estate which consists of the temple and shrine. Ojichan is highly respected and well sought out for his wisdom by the people. Although he is blind, he does not allow this factor to disable him. He can often be found working on up-keeping the estate fully independently and can sense when people or any being is near. Even so, the short old man would often suffer from aches and pains. It would be accompanied by the horrific memory that caused his infliction in the first place. Many remember it as "The Aiko Tragedy". It had happened years ago due to the last great war when the war had poured into the city and the enemies terrorized and murdered many citizens along the way. They had pillaged through the temple then started a fire to burn it down. In the fire, Ojichan's son and his wife were trapped inside which caused for their unfortunate demise. Ojichan hardly managed to escape with his life as he held on tight to Rei who was an infant at the time in order to saver her life. He sustained many injuries that night both physically and emotionally. The permanent injuries being his blindness and the loss of his beloved family. Having only Rei as his remaining family, he raised her as his own daughter. He trained her to be a refined priestess while helping her to develop and perfect her abilities. Ojichan tries to keep a positive optimistic attitude. His character could be quite comical as he can often be found annoying Rei with too many proverbs and joke-like riddles. His favorite pass-times are drinking tea and gambling. |
